The logo of the British Traditional Karate Association depicts a fist at the centre of a flower with seven petals. These two symbols represent the soft (ju) and hard (go) sides of karate.

The seven petals depict the seven constituents of good physical karate, and the seven aspects of a karate-ka's character.

  • WAZA = Technique
  • CHIKARA = Power
  • HAYASA = Speed
  • KIME = Focus
  • MA-AI = Timing
  • MA = Distance
  • ZANSHIN = Awareness
